Update on Coble Triplets - As of early August, Ashley Coble is doing well at home with her brother and sister, Ellie and Jake. The triplets, who were born on April 30, are the grandchildren of our Rector, Fr. Bob Coble. On Sunday, September 28, there will be a special Adult Forum titled "Meet the Triplets." Using MAC I-Chat, the parish will have an opportunity to meet the triplets and hear from their parents, Lori and Chris Coble.
Transitional Committee Appointed - Since our current rector has announced his retirement for February, 2009, the Vestry has appointed a Transitional ad. hoc Committee which has the responsibility to plan and coordinate activities and programs which will bring closure to his tenure following 30 years of ministry. This Committee will be chaired by the Vestry's Warden, John Errington. The following congregants will serve as members: Craig Flood, Jennifer Texter, Ray and Nancy Tompkins, Susan Dean, Carol Harrity, and Jack and Marilyn Clemson. The Committee will also plan an event to welcome the new Iterim Pastor as well as the new Rector.
Retirement Celebration of Fr. Steve and Louise’s Ministry - On Sunday, October 19, at both services, the parish will celebrate and give thanks to God for the presence and ministry of Fr. Steve and Louise Nelson. As part of the celebration, the Breakfast Committee will serve brunch following the 10AM service and Fr. Steve will preach and celebrate at both services. His first visit to All Saints’ was when he served as a supply priest in July 1979. Since 1984, he has served as a volunteer Associate. He and his wife, Louise, have been Acolyte Coordinators for fifteen years. Over the summer months, the Nelson family will be moving to the Pottsgrove area. A brunch will be served at 11:15AM, October 19, by the Breakfast Committee. Mark the date of your calendar now and plan to join in the celebration.
Junior Youth Serving the Poor and Homeless - As you are packing your toiletry items for vacation, please remember to bring in toiletry items for our less fortunate neighbors who cannot afford to purchase or do not have a home or bathroom to keep them in. Please help our youth collect the small everyday essentials for the clients who use the Norristown Hospitality Center. The Junior Youth Group will make up toiletry bags in September for distribution. A small gift of a toothbrush or a bar of soap can make a difference in the well-being of a person living on the street or one living on a fixed income. Thank you, in advance, for you donations. There will be a box in the vestibule to collect the items.
Homecoming BBQ - All Saints’ is known to be the place to come for worship, shopping and for learning computers, but we also enjoy fellowship and food! Not only can we have great times on Haws Avenue, we can have fun away from church in the community. Make plans now to join us at 1PM on Saturday, September 13 at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park (Main Picnic Center). This is an ideal event to invite friends, neighbors or co-workers to experience the fellowship of the All Saints’ community. Our menu consists of cheeseburgers, hot dogs and chicken on the grill along with vegetarian selections for the non meat eaters in the group. Phil Gottshall has kindly volunteered to lead activities (fun and games) and we could use one or two volunteers to help man the grills and with set up. A sign up sheet will be posted on the vestibule bulletin board or you may contact Jim Karandy at 610-329-5590 to let him know how many people will be coming. You are invited to bring a generous portion of a side salad or dessert. Hope to see you all there to celebrate Homecoming Weekend. Share the invitation!
